Sunset in the Grenadines
I flew into St Vincent I think. Then we took a boat to Union Island. We stayed with Ms.Janet Wall. She was an anthropologist of a sort and lived alone in a beautiful house on a hill.
She hadn't any electricity and we had to take quick showers to preserve the water which was rain run off. Lovely place.
I remember sitting on her veranda which looked over a cliff. Beautiful sunsets and Rum drinks at 5pm.
I went with her daughter Nancy to Petit St Vincent for a Regatta and wound up working, making drinks, flipping burgers etc.
We met a group of professional men who were sailing in the Regatta. They were from the State of Washington. Their ship was a 40' double-masted Schooner built in 1928.
It was beautiful and in exquisite condition. My boyfriend was a cook and talked us into their galley where we cooked and washed and did the grocery shopping etc.
What a memory. I loved Bequia and St Vincent more than anyplace I've ever seen. Love to go back someday.
One more thing...it was during the Holiday Season and all the masts were decorated with Christmas Lights. Hmmmmm Nice.
Dear Linda,
What a lovely story. Thanks for sharing with my readers.
