Most beach aficionados have certainly heard of The Baths in Virgin Gorda, BVI.
What a spectacular mix of pocket beaches and huge boulders that you can climb over and under to the next perfect scallop beach.
Not only is that, but there are wild sea life right off the shore. Just wade in; swim and you are literally right over stag horn coral, brain coral and schools of fish.
Now this was back in the early 1990's, I really hope it hasn't changed since then.
Having said that, there was another beach we visited that was absolutely completely empty. I remember remarking that there weren't even any footsteps in the sand but ours.
That was the beach in Savannah Bay on the "neck" of this gourd-shaped island. There was a pull-off on the side of the road where you parked the car.
We walked through scrub and palms to the beach. I can remember being stunned, speechless really, that there was this absolutely perfect crescent-shaped half mile long beach with not a soul on it, nobody.
It's what beach dreamer’s dreams are made of. Coming from NC, where the beaches are crowded in the summers, it took my breath away.
Because of this, I'd have to say that Savannah Bay beach is probably the most beautiful beach I have ever seen.
Dear Jim,
Thanks for your beautiful story. The beaches of Virgin Gorda are as beautiful today as they were in the 1990’s. I hope to hear from you in the future about other Caribbean Beaches
Best regards,
Eddy
