St Thomas USVI American Paradise

We went to St Thomas USVI for the first time more than 40 years ago.

In Puerto Rico we couldn’t resist the temptation of visiting one more of the Caribbean Islands so near to us.

We visited St Thomas many times during the years, sometimes staying there or sometimes on our way to St John for a long weekend in Caneel Bay.

Caribbean Books and more...

The capital is the lovely city of Charlotte Amalie

St Thomas USVI a 31 Sq. mile island with its capital of Charlotte Amalie and the many important towns is the beating heart of the US Virgin islands also called “The American Paradise”.

It is the most cosmopolitan of all three, boasting an array of hotels, resorts and all inclusive for Family Vacations, Island Honeymoons, Caribbean Weddings, rental villas and more.

Charlotte Amalie is on the south, overlooking the Caribbean Sea and it’s a natural port able to welcome many cruise ships at a time. The city is full of Duty Free shops, souvenirs, jewelry stores, restaurants and everything you can think a tourist needs. It’s a small island but has a “Big City” feeling with lots of activities to keep you busy on your St Thomas Shopping spree.

St Thomas USVI is not just a stop on one of your Eastern Caribbean Cruises. In order to know the island and its people one has to go there for a few days at least, and drive around the mountains, beautiful beaches and secluded paradises. I hope driving on the left like in Britain doesn’t bother you.

Awe inspiring views from every corner of St Thomas USVI

St Thomas USVI is a mountainous island and you’ll experience awe inspiring views like the one atop of the heart shaped beach of Magens Bay, many times included in the list of the “10 Most Beautiful Beaches in the World”. From the Mountain you can go down to the beach and find the relaxation you were looking for. The beach is open from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm. Also famous for its vistas is Drake’s Seat.

On the Eastern end is Red Hook from where the ferry leaves St Thomas USVI to Cruz Bay St John USVI. It runs almost every hour back and forth.
