Black, Gray and White Exotic Beaches

St Kitts Beaches are different from one another according to their location. In the north coast the beaches have black sand as a proof of the volcanic origin of the area. As you move south they change colors from beautiful gray to shining white sand beaches. Once you arrive at the southern tip of the island you’ll find many little beaches some of them secluded ideal for honeymooners or romantic getaways.

Get ready with a water cooler, lots of sunscreen lotion and get ready to explore some of the most beautiful beaches on the Planet.

• Friar’s Bay Beach

Friar’s Bay Beach on the Caribbean side provides calm waters, powdered white sands. It is great for a Family Reunion. You’ll find a few food and drinks stands. It is considered a favorite by many locals.

• Frigate Bay South

On the Caribbean side is called the active beach of St Kitts. It has white sands and calm waters good for all kind of Caribbean Sports like windsurfing or water skiing.

Many coconut palm trees grow there to give you the necessary shade. The Timothy Beach Hotel is located here besides many restaurants and bars where the party goes on until the wee hours of the morning with an atmosphere of Caribbean Music, Jazz and more.

• Frigate Bay North

It is a continuation of Friar’s Beach South, just on the Atlantic side, walking distance from one another. Because of the surf always present in the Atlantic side of the islands, it is ideal for windsurfing, sailingand many water activities. But for those like me that like to read a book and relax with a cold drink, nothing better than this beach. A few hotels like the St Kitts Marriott and the Sugar Bay Club are located in this beach.

• White House Bay

This is my favorite for snorkeling. The reefs underwater are an unforgettable experience. There is also a sunken boat harboring schools of fish of all colors and sizes. This beach is located 2 miles from Friar’s

• Turtle Bay

This is a secluded beach in a stretch of white sand adjacent to Sandy Bank. It has great surf for surfing and sailing.

• Turtle Beach

It is not Turtle Bay which is located on the northern Coast. This one is situated on the South East Peninsula. It features a great beach bar and restaurant. It is frequented by the Vervet Monkey. They are friendly animals used to people feeding them. If you are sailing around this beach in the wintertime, you may encounter a few whales.

• Cockleshell Bay

As an exemption to civilization this two mile white sand beach has not been populated by high rise hotels and condominiums. It sits on the narrows, the channel between St Kitts and Nevis, with a terrific view of the sister island.

• Dieppe Bay Beach

This beach on the north is between the Atlantic and the Caribbean Sea. If you stand on the beach you can see the Atlantic on your right and the Caribbean on your left. Its sands are black, therefore this beach is ideal for sunbathing and tanning. It’s a great spot for snorkeling due to plenty marine life. I do not recommend swimming in this beach. This exotic beach is the site of the famous Golden Lemmon Inn, where you can find all kind of food and drinks

• Pump Bay

Shiny Black sands beach is popular for surfing and snorkeling among the St Kitts Beaches.

• Conaree Beach and Half Moon Bay

Those are very nice beaches on the Atlantic side with black and gray sands. They feature beautiful corals. These beaches are good for snorkeling and surfing. Being on the Atlantic side, the waters may be rough.

• Banana Bay

This is a secluded beach on the tip of the Southeast Peninsula. It is impossible to get there if not by car or taxi. It is a peaceful beach with crystal clear waters, fine white sands and shaded by coconut palms.

• Sandy Bank

This a perfect Romantic Getaway on the Atlantic side. The waters are unusually calm despite being on this side of the island. You may spend a day and meet other people only occasionally. Maybe it is because of the absence of Restaurants and Bars.
