Lesser Antilles
The Lesser Antilles form an arch that starts East of Puerto Rico and ends next to the northern Coast of Venezuela. They are divided into two groups, the Leeward Islands which are the northern ones and the Windward Islands on the South. They are the little sisters of the Greater Antilles formed by Cuba, Hispaniola, Jamaica and Puerto Rico.

Leeward Islands The northern Lesser Antilles are the The Leeward Islands which are divided into English, French and Dutch speaking islands. We have complete explanation and details of each of the islands. US Virgin Islands– The sisters of St Thomas, St Croix and St John are united on the United States Virgin Islands, commonly called “The American Paradise” British Virgin Islands – This group of islands is made of Virgin Gorda, Tortola, Anegada, Jost Van Dyke and many small uninhabited cays and little islands. Anguilla – A small island part of the British Territories. The beaches are spectacular and many Luxury Resorts and Luxury Villas abound on those beaches. St Martin – This is the French part of the island shared with St Maarten. It is part of the French Caribbean Islands with its central government in Guadeloupe. St Maarten – This is the Dutch part of the island shared with French St Martin. Together with the islands of Curacao, Bonaire, Saba and Statia form the Netherlands Antilles. St Barth – This French islands is a heaven for tourist looking for elegance and gourmet cuisine. Saba – The smallest of the Leeward Islands is practically a big rock emerging from the Ocean with approximately 5 square miles . Statia – Another of the Netherlands Antilles has a rich history since the American War of Independence. St Kitts – Known also as St Christopher is part of the nation of St Kitts Nevis. This is a lovely island with beautiful beaches. Nevis - Is called “The Queen of Caribees”. It is world recognized for its beaches of white sands and crystal clear waters.

 Antigua – This is the northernmost island of the Caribbean where the Caribbean meets the Atlantic Ocean. Together with Barbuda form the nation Antigua and Barbuda. It is known for having 365 beaches around the islands, one for every day of the year. Barbuda - The other half of Antigua and Barbuda is a small and laid back island with spectacular beaches. Montserrat – This is an island battered by a recently erupted Soufriere Volcano, that almost destroyed it and made part of the population to flee to other areas or to neighboring islands. |Guadeloupe – This is the center of the Overseas French Department. It is from here that the islands are governed. They are St Barth, St Martin, Martinique, Marie Galante, Iles des Saintes and La Desirade. Iles des Saintes – Also called Les Saintes it is located about 15 KM from Guadeloupe. There are a few more uninhabited island forming part of the municipality of Les Saintes. Marie Galante – This is a round island near Guadeloupe and accessed by ferry. It features spectacular beaches and turquoise lagoons as well as picturesque villages adorning the beautiful green hills. It is the real Caribbean of your dreams. Dominica – This island features several hot springs and the second largest boiling lake in the world. It is still underdeveloped making it very attractive to tourist practicing Caribbean Ecotourism. It is difficult to decide which of the Leeward Islands on the Lesser Antilles is the most beautiful. Windward Islands The southern group of the Lesser Antilles. The Windward Islands are the end of the arch started by the Leeward Islands in the north. They stretch all the way to the northern coast of South America. They are so named because they are the windier and wetter of the Lesser Antilles. They are mostly of volcanic origin and some of them formed of coral structures, making this a paradise for divers and snorkelers. They are called Windward Islands since the 1700s when British ships bound for Jamaica passed through the Windward Passage stopping and restocking on some of the islands. Martinique - La Martinique, together with Guadeloupe and the smaller islands is an Overseas French Department, maintaining the French flair and elegance all over the island. St Lucia – This Island is surrounded by pristine beaches with idyllic views and crystal clear waters only seen in the Caribbean Sea. The beaches are the ideal place for your Honeymoon.

St Vincent – This island is of volcanic origin and the vegetation is thick and lush forest cover the island. It is the easternmost island on the Caribbean Sea, bordering the Atlantic Ocean. Trinidad - Trinidad is cosmopolitan and business oriented. It is a melting pot of many cultures and heritages. The capital city of Port of Spain is surrounded by verdant hills and is an important cosmopolitan hub where skyscrapers abound next to colorful bazaars and Cathedrals next to Mosques. Tobago – Here the beaches are a mix of white and pink sand beaches each one with its own personality and flavor. Many coral reefs abound offshore.
