Jamaica Food is a Melange of Cultures
Jamaica Food is what the country is, a melange of cultures and people that have lived here and that have made what today is called Jamaica. One great country with great people that are always happy no matter what happens. Their food is a combination of the aborigines, the Spanish, the British, African, Chinese and Hindu. All of them have lived or conquered Jamaica at some point in history and have left their inalienable mark in their culture and food. There are also many ingredients that are native to Jamaica besides a great variety of tropical fruits and vegetables, lots of fish and seafood cached on the tropical waters surrounding the island, and chicken, meat, pork and more.

The Jamaican Curry Goat is one of the best examples of this country food.
Jerk Jerk is a style of cooking native to Jamaica in which meats are dry rubbed or wet marinated with a very hot spice mixture called Jamaican jerk spice. Jerk seasoning is traditionally applied to pork and chicken. Modern recipes also apply jerk spice mixes to fish, shrimp, shellfish, beef, sausage, and tofu. Jerk seasoning principally relies upon two items: pimento and Scotch bonnet peppers that are among the hottest peppers. Other ingredients include cloves, cinnamon, scallions, nutmeg, thyme, garlic, salt, and pepper.
