Island Hopping and Fishing

Cowreck Beach in Anegada BVI
I'm interested in some fun island hopping boats to get us to some of the British Virgin Islands : St. Croix, St. Lucia maybe. I would like to fish along the way and hit some beautiful beaches too. Any info would be great!
Dear Jennifer,
Like always I recommend to stay in one area. In this case St Lucia is on the south side of the Caribbean, while the Virgin Islands are up north.
St Croix is in the US Virgin Islands.
In your question you mention the British Virgin Islands and I totally agree.
The BVI are northeast of the USVI and provide everything you mention: spectacular beaches, sailing, fishing and all kind of water activities.
My suggestion will be to fly to St Croix and from there move to the other two USVI, St Thomas and exotic St John and then continue to the BVI to the islands of Virgin Gorda, Tortola, Anegada and others.
I don't want you to think I don't like St Lucia. It's one of my favorite. But from the area I mentioned you'll have to fly. St Lucia matches with Barbados, Grenada, Martinique and St Vincent and the Grenadines.
So now you have islands for two vacations.
I hope I answered your concern. I am at your service,
Eddy
Thank you Eddy for your reply. We are a little clearer on what we would like to do... maybe you could give me some local info for small motor boat rentals (to tour the islands).
We will spend 2-3 days on Grand Bahama Island, then take a small plane to one of the islands (St. Croix, St. John) which islands have airports? We want to tour the islands for 4 or 5 days. Any advice on where to go, stay, what restaurants you recommend, and things we simply MUST do and see. Thanks again for all of your advice, I feel much more comfortable getting info from someone who knows, rather than a travel agent! Cheers! Jenn
Hi Jenn,
I don't think you'll find a plane from Grand Bahama to the US Virgin islands. Remember what i mentioned about different areas.
But if you want to go I would suggest St Thomas that has an important airport and from there you may visit St Croix and St John. This last one has no airport, so you go with a ferry from St Thomas.
Go to my page about Caribbean Sailing Vacations and you'll find information about charters and sailing in those islands.
Once in the islands it's very easy to find the best restaurants and those that locals use, which are the best.
Best regards,
Eddy
