La Republica Dominicana The Dominican Republic or as we say in Spanish “Republica Dominicana” or the aborigine name of “Quisquella “ occupies two thirds of Hispaniola Island neighboring the Republic of Haiti on the other third. The “Dominicanos” are a warm and lovely people, proud of their county and heritage. The official language is Spanish, although English is widely spoken in the Tourism sector.

Cayo Levantado is a small cay across from Samana
Dominican Republic Beaches on the North Coast Cabarete On the Dominican Republic's north coast, Cabarete beach is world famous for windsurfing and kite surfing. It hosts many annual competitions. On a given day you may look to the sky an see hundred of colorful kites carrying surfers on their ride. Playa Cofresi Near Puerto Plata, this beach is named for the Pirate Cophresi. This is a spectacular beach with nice waters for sunbathing and some surfing. It features the theme Park, Ocean World where you can swim with the dolphins; feed the stingrays and many more marine games. It also hosts two lodging facilities, Sun Village Resort & Spa and Lifestyle Hacienda Resort. Playa Dorada This is the site of one of the world’s largest All Inclusive Resorts, Playa Dorada. It is protected by reefs. The sands are white and warm and the waters crystal clear. To visit Playa Dorada complex, non members have to acquire a one day pass.
Playa GrandeThis is one of the longest beaches in the north coast and is located near Luperon. It’s a spectacular beach with ample space for all. It features Occidental Allegro Resort. Playa Punta Rucia This beach is near Puerto Plata and has great mountain views from the impressive beaches. It’s popular with snorkelers for the great coral reefs off shore. Playa Sosua It is worth the visit to this perfect beach. The water is calm clear and deep, ideal for swimming. It also features some impressive cliffs.

Dominican Republic Beaches on the North East Cayo Levantado This is a small island a few miles offshore from the town of Samana. A ferry departs from the port of Samana. Once you arrive to the island, head for the other side where beaches are less frequented. Las Terrenas Located on the Samana Peninsula this beautiful beach is shaded with coconut palm trees. Here you may swim or snorkel or my famous activity: “Doing nothing”. It features many restaurants offering European, Domincan and Caribbean Cuisine. Playa Bonita It’s a beach with white powdered sands and clear turquoise waters, this beach has idyllic views. Playa Las Flechas It is located overlooking Cayo Levantado. It’s a quiet beach, great for sunbathing, swimming and quiet family reunions. Playa Rincon Dominicans consider this beach as the most beautiful in the country. By the way, Conde Nast Traverler Magazine has rated this beach as one of the Ten most beautiful beaches in the world. The beach is shaded by coconut palms and on one end it has high mountains. The best way to get to this beach is by boat.

Dominican Republic Beaches on the East Coast Isla Saona Located within Parque Nacional Del Este, Isla Saona is one of the southeast coast’s most popular tourist destinations. It is a dream beach. I consider this beach to be the ideal Romantic Getaway in the Dominican Republic Playa Bavaro Together with Punta Cana it seems like a long stretch beach. Bavaro is a separate beach bordered by an array of All Inclusive Resorts. Punta Cana Dominican Republic Punta Cana is perhaps, the Dominican Republic most world renowned beach. It has a great concentration of All Inclusive Resorts, each featuring its own beach facilities. It is bordered by coconut palm trees on all of its 30 miles of exotic beaches. Being such a large beach it allows many sports of all kinds like beach volley ball or parasailing to mention a few. Punta Cana and Bavaro Beach have become an ideal destination for Caribbean Weddings and Honeymoons.
Playa DominicusThis beach is popular for scuba divers and snorkelers due to the presence of large coral reefs. Playa Bayahibe This beach is next to Dominicus. Both beaches feature many All Inclusive Resorts. Isla Catalina This tiny island is only six square miles. It features the best coral reef in the area. Many tourists come to the island for a day tour of Scuba Diving and for plain relaxation. Playa Minitas This is the beach that serves Casa de Campo. We have visited Casa de Campo many times. Playa Minitas can be reached with hotel transportation or by yourself on the golf cart provided to each suite guests. I feel like taking my cart and sipping one of those Minita’s Piña Colada served inside a huge Pineapple

Dominican Republic Beaches on the South Central Coast Boca Chica This beach is near the capital city of Santo Domingo and is very popular with local residents. It is great for families with kids, because the waters are shallow. It also features many eateries. Playa Juan Dolio This beach next to Boca Chica, doesn’t offer such a good beach and therefore it’s no so busy. It hosts many resorts, restaurants and bars. Dominican Republic Beaches on the South Western Coast Playa Pedernales This beach is near the Haitian border, close to the fishing village of Pedernales. It is a delight to watch the boats with fishermen coming back to shore with their catches. San Rafael This beach is located south of the city of Barahona. It is very popular among locals. Besides being a beach with strong surf it features a natural swimming pool made by nature of a waterfall running down from nearby mountains.
