The constant currents clear the waters and visibility is perfect, sometime 100 to 200 feet.
Cozumel's walls and reefs are known as a spur and groove reef system. They have been sculpted over thousands of years and are characterized by a complex network of caves, holes and canyons or sand chutes that run perpendicular to the coast. Now, for more experience divers the east or outer coast the reefs running deep into the ocean will be considered the best experience. Caribbean Snorkeling In the south where the Colombia lagoon is, the waters with nutrient rich material pass on to the sea and moved by the currents keep feeding the reefs for centuries. Snorkeling is absolutely gorgeous here. You’ll be admired by so many fish of all kinds and species.
