Diving in the Cayman Islands Beaches is full of surprises
The second largest of the three Cayman Islands Cayman Brac with a population of 1,800 is a laid back island where the real activity is below the water’s surface. Here lies the only Russian war ship in the western hemisphere, the MV Captain Keith Tibbett that was intentionally sunk in 1996 to create an artificial reef. Today is a diving reef together with as many as 50 more. One of them is Charlie’s reef on the northern part of the island. In addition to world famous Cayman Brac diving, other island activities include Cayman Islands snorkeling, kayaking, Cayman Islands fishing, tennis, beach volleyball, hiking, caving, rock climbing, bird watching and biking. Add to this on site day spa services, a fitness center, and a gift shop and you’ve got yourself one heck of a holiday. When dreaming of their trip to the Cayman Islands, most people think of the sprawling white Grand Cayman Beaches, like Seven Mile Beach ignoring that less than 100 miles away there are the two islands of Cayman Brac and Little Cayman only seven miles apart. Cayman Airways offers several daily flights from Grand Cayman and lately a weekly direct flight from Miami.

The wreck of one of the ships of the Russian Frigate is now a coral reef.

The Alexander Hotel Cayman Brac Sophisticated Boutique Hotel is the Gateway to a Peaceful Paradise. The Alexander Hotel was recently opened in 2009. The owner, Cleveland Dilbert, was born and raised on Cayman Brac. While living in Grand Cayman, Cleveland saw the need for an upscale hotel in Cayman Brac and so he set out to build what is now the Alexander Hotel. He has a genuine love for Cayman Brac and encourages all guests to go out and explore the island… eat at local restaurants and contribute to the local economy. While the most popular Caribbean destinations have surged in growth over the years, Cayman Brac has remained quite the same and has retained its peaceful innocence. There are no cruise ships unloading thousands of tourists into the streets, no noisy traffic or bars full of spring breakers… Just 12 miles of untouched Caribbean island and a couple of local restaurants and hotels so you may enjoy your Cayman Brac Diving.
