Carriacou

Largest of the Grenadine Islands

Carriacou is one of the islands belonging to Grenada and together with Petite Martinique form a tri-island nation.

It is one of the Grenadine Islands, a necklace of gems located between Grenada and the country of St Vincent and the Grenadines.

It is the largest of all the Grenadines and roughly 13 sq miles in size.

The sandy exotic beaches surrounding the isle are populated by beautiful Coral Reefs undersea.

I did it. You can do it too

Hillsborough is the main town

The main town and port is Hillsborough besides a few smaller villages scattered on the small island. The island is packed with activities for everyone. World Class snorkeling and diving are the main attractions in the Caribbeans clearest waters and reefs.

Petite Martinique

About three miles away from the island lays little sister of Petite Martinique a conical shape isle of about two miles in diameter. It is very small and the east coast of this tiny isle is uninhabited due to the extremely rocky, volcanic terrain. The island is really one large hill with fine beaches on the west side.

Sandy island

In front of Paradise Beach, lays a tiny island with bright white sand. Uninhabited and with sparse vegetation, it features an interior lagoon where you can snorkel in knee deep waters. Around Sandy Island you will find some beautiful diving conditions.

Boat Building

The country of Grenada, and its two islands are independent since 1974 and still belong to the British Commonwealth. The population of the two smaller islands is about 6,000 and is mainly of African origin with some Scottish influence. They are known by their sea fairing skills and boat building.

This paradise is rich in tradition and many customs were handed down from their African and Scottish ancestors. In the village of Windward they still build sailing boats using the traditional methods passed down by the Scottish settlers. There is a yearly Regatta held during the months of July and August, featuring these boats.
