When I started writing about the Best Beach in Jamaica, I thought that I should at least mention a few, since it is very difficult to decide which one is number one.

Hundreds of Miles of Coastline

I used my personal experience of my visits to Jamaica during the years and researched a few travel magazines to see what people say and came with these Best Jamaica Beaches.

It has hundreds of miles of coastline and as expected many beautiful beaches. The best beaches are located on the northern and western shores near the big resorts cities of Montego Bay, Ocho Rios and Negril and some overlooked destinations as Port Antonio and Treasure Beach.

Jamaica is the third biggest island of the Greater Antilles, after Cuba and Hispaniola. Puerto Rico comes after Jamaica as the fourth largest of the four.

Doctor’s Cave Beach

This one that could be called the best beach in Jamaica is located in Montego Bay Jamaica. It is named for a Physician that donated this beach property to form a Beach Club.

The property was then accessible only by a cave, that a few years later was destroyed by a hurricane.

This beach helped bring MoBay, as it is nicknamed, to an International platform, because of its beauty. Located right on the heart of Montego Bay on Gloucester Avenue.

It is kept as a private beach administered by the Doctor's Cave Beach Hotel Montego Bay. The fee is minimal compared to the number of amenities they offer to the visitor like a new clubhouse, changing and shower facilities, a beach bar and more.

Rose Hall Beach

As opposed to downtown Montego Bay, this beach a short distance to the east is more relaxed and laid back. Rose Hall Jamaica is a beach with luxurious beach resorts like Iberostar Grand Hotel Rose Hall Montego Bay, Half Moon Royal Villas Resort Montego Bay, The Ritz Carlton Golf and Spa Resort Montego Bay.

If you stay at any of these Jamaica Resorts, the beach is just outside your room. But if you are not staying in one of them you can still access this beach through the Rose hall Beach Club and enjoy their restaurant, beach bar and many other amenities.

Hedonism II Resort Negril Beach Jamaica

Seven Mile Beach

This beach located in Negril could also apply for the title of the Best beach in Jamaica. It is Jamaica’s longest beach and remains one of the best in the island.

It was developed in the 1960’s and it is known for its naturist approach. This is one of the Caribbean Nude Beaches, where the Hedonism II Resort Negril is located.

Treasure Beach

This deserted beach is located on the south coast. If you really want to relax this is the place to be. This is a real Jamaican community dedicated to farming and fishing besides some tourism. Here you can meet the real Jamaicans far from the crowd of tourists in the main cities.

Here you’ll find white sands with almost no people, private romantic coves, a very laid back atmosphere and a few night clubs, hotels and dining facilities.

Boston Bay Beach

This beach is located in the not so known town of Port Antonio. Surfing here is fabulous and the beach is frequented by visitors and locals alike. Some say they have the best Jerk stands in the country. Visit our page on Jamaica Food.

The world renowned Seven Mile Beach in Negril, Jamaica

James Bond Beach

It is located about a 20 minute drive east of Ocho Rios Jamaica, and therefore, less crowded. This beach is calm and has no shade.

There is a restaurant and bar on site that offer concerts once in a while. You should enquire about the schedule of these concerts. The author of James Bond, Ian Fleming, owned a home next door. Now the Goldeneye is a very exclusive resort property.
